Welcome Message from the Conference President

Professor Fiona Wilcox
Conference President
Dear Esteemed Colleagues,
It is with great pleasure that I invite you to ForenSoc’27, the International Forensic Social Sciences Conference, run by the Balkan Academy of Forensic Sciences, to be held in Istanbul, Türkiye 5th to 7th February 2027.
The purpose of the meeting is to promote interdisciplinary communication between traditional forensic science and social science to encourage a more integrated approach to forensic practice and justice, improving practice and outcomes by the better understanding of criminality and victimisation.
And where better than in Istanbul! A city rich in culture and history. Here we can exchange ideas, present research and build co-operation and understanding together, as well enjoy the cuisine and friendly hospitality that Türkiye is so famous for.
We look forward to welcoming you to Istanbul for this exceptional and exciting opportunity to connect with international colleagues and learn from each other to help shape the future of forensics in these ever-challenging times.
Connecting Forensic Sciences, Society, and Justice
ForenSoc ’27 is an international interdisciplinary conference exploring the social, legal, psychological, behavioural, institutional, and human dimensions of forensic sciences.
Forensic practice does not operate through scientific evidence alone. Crime, victimisation, trauma, vulnerability, human rights, professional decision-making, public communication, and trust in justice institutions all influence how forensic evidence is understood and applied. ForenSoc ’27 creates a shared forum for specialists from forensic sciences, social sciences, law, criminology, psychology, medicine, policing, and related disciplines.
Through keynote lectures, scientific presentations, multidisciplinary panels, and workshops, the conference aims to encourage international cooperation, promote research, and contribute to more informed, humane, and effective approaches to forensic practice and justice. Participants may attend in person in Istanbul or online.
