Welcome Message from the Conference President

Prof. Dr. Selçuk Erez
Conference President
Medical malpractice represents one of the most complex and sensitive challenges in modern healthcare systems, where clinical practice, legal responsibility, forensic evaluation, and patient safety intersect.
The International Conference on Medical Malpractice – Obstetrics & Gynecology is the first meeting of a newly established international conference series by BAFS dedicated to the multidisciplinary analysis of malpractice across medical specialties. This inaugural meeting focuses on obstetrics and gynecology, a field characterized by high clinical complexity, elevated risk profiles, and significant medico-legal implications.
Bringing together clinicians, forensic medicine experts, legal professionals, academics, policymakers, insurers, and risk-management specialists, the conference aims to create a common platform for evidence-based discussion, comparative analysis, and practical solutions.
The conference will take place in Istanbul, Türkiye, a city that historically and geographically connects continents, disciplines, and perspectives—providing a symbolic and strategic setting for international dialogue.
A Multidisciplinary Approach to Medical Malpractice
Medical malpractice cannot be understood from a clinical perspective alone. It also involves forensic evaluation, law, ethics, patient safety, health policy, insurance, and institutional risk management. MALPRACTICE 2026 creates a common forum in which professionals from these interconnected fields can exchange evidence, experience, and practical approaches.
The 2026 conference focuses on obstetrics and gynecology, where clinical decisions may be urgent, outcomes can affect both mother and child, and disputes frequently raise complex questions concerning causation, standards of care, documentation, informed consent, and professional responsibility.
Through keynote lectures, scientific presentations, multidisciplinary panels, and case-based discussions, the conference aims to improve understanding, support safer clinical practice, and encourage international cooperation across disciplines. Participants may attend in person in Istanbul or online.
